Deck of Rumours: A Love Letter to Tabletop Roleplaying

Hey!

I'm David, the CEO of Unlimited Realms!

As DMs, we are as much conductors as we are storytellers, orchestrating the inhabitants of our world around the actions of our players. Tabletop Roleplaying, at its very core, is an exercise in improvisation.

Is that not one of the most beautiful things about roleplaying? How from one game to another, a group of friends can sit round a table and each get a different kind of satisfaction from their experience - one may find it in levelling up, another through investment in their character’s personal story arc, through combat, bartering… There are many ways to enjoy a few (or many) hours in our fictional worlds, and to improvise the lives of said characters across a multitude of adventures.

It is from this feeling of excitement and opportunity that Deck of Rumours was developed,  to provide both on-the-go quests and a myriad of opportunities for improvisation with your players.

Not only that, but we hope you’ll be able to use our decks in a variety of ways…

  1. Town immersion: Enrich the personalities of your towns by selecting a number of cards from any Deck of Rumours set. A major city by the coast? Combine several cards from By The Sea, The Big City and Town Events to create a bustling environment that fits your vision for daily life in that region.

  2. Excite your Players: Nothing is more satisfying than seeing the faces of your players light up with intrigue and excitement: Deck of Rumours promises to do just that. When you lay out a selection of noticeboard cards, your players are suddenly given a wealth of information and opportunities, making each session as memorable as the last!

  3. Develop your Adventures: Use the unique Sigil system on the reverse of every card to quickly and efficiently lay out a town noticeboard suitable for your session. If you wish to keep your players on a direct route, simply omit any ‘Quest’ cards from the board. Want to insert more hear-say among the townsfolk that hint towards the presence of your big-evil-guy? Insert more ‘Rumour’ cards into the mix.

In addition, every deck has two blank cards for you to write your own town notice - a brilliant opportunity to customize your players’ experience!

  1. Memories: Every town should be as memorable as the last - and Deck of Rumours is a beautiful way to memorialize the adventures shared. If there’s a Quest that appeals to the group, encourage them to keep said card! Did one of your players find one of the villager’s announcements hilarious? Why not let them keep it? At the end of the day, Deck of Rumours is about sharing experiences, and forging memories with your friends.

Mathew and I have been playing Tabletop Roleplaying games for many years now, and Deck of Rumours is the culmination of our passion for this hobby. We are extremely proud of the quality of the final product, and we know you’ll feel the same way!

Thank you for taking an interest in our crazy adventure, and we look forward to updating you with more articles and reveals soon!
